Felicia Verdell
Verdell's Total Package Cooking & Catering
Felicia Verdell is an outgoing and passionate entrepreneur. She originally worked in the healthcare field for more than 10 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was injured in a car accident and could no longer continue to work in the field providing care for hospice patients. In addition, her husband was also injured in a motorcycle accident, which prevented him being able to continue working. As a result, she decided to find an alternative way to make a living for herself as well as her husband. She had worked in food service with her dad as a teenager. He taught her everything she needed to know about food preparation, since he was a cook by profession and ran a small business selling food from his food truck, The Chuck Wagon. Felicia was able to hone her skills in cooking and catering. She started her own business as a food truck owner and operator after leaving the healthcare field.
She educated herself about the legalities of operating a food truck in her community of West St. Augustine. She took the necessary steps to become licensed and insured to operate her food truck business. She was innovative in the services she provides her community. She didn’t just want to sell fast food from her truck, but decided she wanted to be a one stop shop for her customers, i.e. Felicia wanted to give a total package service, DJ, Decorating, and Catering. Which is why her business is called Verdell’s Total Package Cooking & Catering. Providing these services when catering events made it possible to get her husband involved and other family members. Her innovative approach to catering services has allowed her business to grow and flourish for seven years.
She and her husband have created delicious desserts and often prepare them for catering events. Her husband, Timothy Verdell mastered baking cakes while she makes her signature dessert, “dat” banana pudding, which is a customer favorite. Felicia has successfully created a business from the ground up. Her accomplishments as a caterer and food truck owner was a laborious journey, but a labor of love born out of necessity.
She and her husband make dishes that are food for the “soul”. No event is too large or too small. She is passionate about what she does and has become well known in the community and on social media. She’s always on the move just look for the food truck with the pink and black logo. They just might be in your neighborhood.
